I am a serial stool checker. The article does point out that diet may effect colour which is important to bear in mind. I have noticed that the stools are blackish when my dog has had the redder bloodier raw varieties whereas stools are harder and paler when we are on the chicken varieties. The green tripe varieties seem to produce the healthiest looking stools. Firm but not hard. I clearly check too much.
