Freshpet

My daughter in law sent me a picture she had taken while she was in Asda of Freshpet raw dog food. I see there are no ratings on the food directory for this dog food so I can not compare it with the raw food I already feed my Dog. Does anyone have any information?

Hello and welcome to the forum. The Freshpet company website is here. It is in the USA and I can’t find anything about it being sold in the UK. In view of this, I doubt whether it would be reviewed on the Dog Food Directory unless it was on general sale here. However, you can rate it yourself by using the Instant Review Generator of this website.

Hi Dottie

It is for sale in the UK Asda were also handing out free samples

It seems Freshpet is available in selected Tesco stores also.

Thank you for the information. The products look interesting. They are cooked and need to be kept in a refrigerator after opening. Don’t know how long they keep though. Have you put them into the Instant Review Generator? If not, I will try it myself later.

Looks like a lower moisture level wet food of average quality at first glance.

Looks like Tesco are expanding it’s chilled Freshpet trial. http://www.petbusinessworld.co.uk/news/feed/tesco-trials-chilled-pet-food

Thank you Seaweed. I see that the food is cooked, not raw so I thought it best to move the thread to the Dog Food section of the forum. I look forward to reading more reviews. This is a most welcome change from supermarkets selling low quality products.

After successful trials, Freshpet are to go nationwide at Tesco’s. Freshpet is also trialling in 13 Asda stores.Thank you Breeze1 for starting this topic.

I take your point Meg - thank you. Because the range is now going mainstream, it would be useful to have it on the Directory so I will send David a message and ask if he could expedite this. Hopefully he will be able to contact the company and get clarification on the products.
Thank you for the information Seaweed.

I will be interested to see how this one does in the directory. It can only be positive to have more choice in the supermarkets if the food is of a good quality. If so, lets just hope that there is enough demand to make it available in more stores then hopefully some of the other big retailers will follow suit.

Meg - David hasn’t had chance to put it on the Directory but he has replied to my email. He thought it was similar to Butternut Box, a company of which I hadn’t heard. The difference is that Freshpet is pasteurized so keeps longer in the refrigerator. Hopefully Freshpet will appear on the Directory soon but meanwhile, I wonder if it would be worth contacting Tesco about your query, if you have the time that is?

Thank you for your help Dottie, and for the link. Hopefully David will follow through as soon as he is able.

Hi everyone

new to this site and the forum! I was wondering if anyone has tried the ‘Fresh Pet’ cooked & chilled dog food you can find in tesco at the moment?

It certainly looks interesting but not sure on quality/nutritional value?

Thanks!

Hello and welcome the forum oscarthelhasa. I have merged your topic about Freshpet with this one in case it is of any use to you. I understand that it is now more widely available. It is not yet in the Dog Food Directory but you can copy and paste the ingredient list into the Instant Review Generator if you wish. I haven’t tried the products on my dogs so cannot offer an opinion. It would be good to have your opinion if you decide to buy it for your dog.

Today I noticed that our local Morrisons now have a Freshpet refrigerator. Adjoining it is a freezer containing Raaw Pet Foods. It’s a UK company and their products should be particularly handy for small breed owners because it is packed in 6 x 200g portions.
