Malassezia - Severe Ear Infection

Morning all,

Would be grateful for some advice on our 11 month old Lab suffering from severe ear infections derived from an overgrowth of yeast? Malassezia.

We are really struggling at the moment and I am feeling rather deflated by it given everything google says is:

Avoid High-fat and high-sugar foods as fat and sugar are some of the worst culprits for build-up of yeast in the body as well as avoid cheap dog food full of artificial preservatives.

Both of which we do NOT do, as he has been fed Years Fresh Dog Food since birth (which is rated 96% on AADF!) Where have we gone wrong? Is there a specific protein that could be causing this more than others or any other potential factors I may not have considered… Essentially we are reaching a conclusion this is a potential allergy but thats a minefield in itself on where the hell to start.

Please help!!! Thank you so much

My dog has the same issues vet says its due to genetics, dilution of colour from breeding as hes a blue daschund causing skin issues with yeast infection in ears and on skin .I have to wash him regular with special.shampoo containing chlorahexadine and other stuff from.amazon and i use a steriod ear wash when his ears get poorly via vet .
I have changed him on to a raw diet of nutraw compleate diet hoping it helps with less yeast formation as other people saud it helps.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply to me, that is really interesting as our Lab is also technically a ‘dilute’. He is the colour champagne which is from a Silver Mum & Fox Red Dad… We have now been given steroid drops, and I have been looking into a raw diet! Really helpful

Re raw diet make sure you get one thats complete. Naturaw dosnt fill it up with statches that can make things worse have a look on hear you get a discount trying you first batch with a code iff hear if younuse them .I ment to say my daschund has now got alopecia in places and takes youmove oils off amazon all recomended from the vet as it was more expensvie through them .let me know if you have any tips that help too.many thanks
