I hadn’t thought about it but having looked at the article I can see her point. If I lived in a house I would use a safety gate at the bottom stair to stop the dogs going upstairs. The other problem is owners letting dogs sleep on their bed. Small breeds are particularly at risk and beds are so high these days that they can put a lot of pressure on their shoulders when jumping down.
