Puppy food with no chicken?

Hello, I’m just wondering if someone might be able to help. I have a 6 month old male chow chow, who currently weighs about 20kg give or take. Twice he’s had some sore skin and been taken to the vets and given antibiotics, they said that it could be to do with his food. He’s currently on a medium-breed puppy food, which is chicken. I’ve had a look on the allaboutdogfood website and am struggling to find a puppy food which is a good rating and doesn’t include chicken. I was just wondering if you were able to help! Thank you in advance

Hi there, you can use the search facility on the AADF website, I’ve just tried and it’s definitely working now. You just put in the age of your pup, breed etc then search. Once you’ve done that, go to filters and you can remove any that contain certain ingredients, chicken is one of the options.
Our vet has chatted with us a couple of times about possible food intolerances and he mentioned chicken, beef and salmon all causing different issues. Hope you find a suitable chicken-free option for your pup :+1:t2:

Hi Neil,
I have been in your position with 2 of my dogs.
They can not tolerate chicken or any poultry at all.
I have a few dog goods you can try but 2 contain either chicken fat or refined chicken oil but these are not a protein so should not cause any allergy issues
AVA sensitive skin and stomach white fish
Wainwright’s superfoods salmon
Arden grange sensitive ocean fish and potato
Fish 4 Dogs (they only sell fish)
Millies wolfheart
Scrumbles salmon

These are a few you could have a look at and see if they would be any good for your dog.
I have mine on the AVA sensitive skin and stomach adult and the Arden Grange sensitive ocean fish puppy and they are both absolutely fine on them.

Hope this all helps
