Pet nutrition courses

There are a quite a few pet nutrition courses and it is difficult to know which might be suitable for people who hope to undertake a course of study. I therefore recently asked David for information and here is his reply:

Compass are probably the best known providers of non-vocational distance learning courses in nutrition. The Canine Nutrition Certificate: 2 modules. Distance learning. £132. And the new Canine Nutrition for Veterinary Nurses: 3 modules. Distance learning. £90. Contrary to the course title, this is not just for veterinary nurses.

COAPE has a good reputation and you can’t go wrong with the BVNA
COAPE Certificate in Canine and Feline Veterinary Health Nutrition: 9 months. Distance learning. £558
BVNA Certificate in Small Animal Nutrition: 3 days. Attendance course. £375.00 + VAT. Intended primarily for veterinary nurses but I believe it is available to non-nurses as well.

The following two also offer nutrition courses but I haven’t heard any feedback on them.
The British College of Canine Studies
Canine Health and Nutrition Diploma: 240 hours. Distance learning. £429
The Open College
Canine Nutrition Course: ~6 months. Distance learning. £365

David is regularly asked about canine nutrition courses and would like to hear from anyone who actually has first hand experiences to share of any of these or other courses. He can be contacted via here or the Facebook page.
